Japanische Grafik Formate

Alte und teilweise auch zeitgenössische japanische Grafiken weisen bestimmte Standardgrössen auf. Allerdings sind diese Standardgrössen nicht mit westlichen ISO, ANSI or DIN Standards zu vergleichen und sind nur circa Masse. Die tatsächliche Grösse kann bis zu 2 Centimeter (oban) oder mehr (für grössere Formate) variieren.

Häufigste Formate japanischer Grafiken
Die häufigsten Grössen, die sie finden werden, sind Oban, Chuban and Aiban. Die Namen für japanische Grafik Grössen haben oft im Anhang die Namen tate-e oder yoko-e. Tate-e steht für eine Grafik in Hochformat und yoko-e für Querformat. Die Kenntnis der Grafik Grössen, selbst wenn sie nur ungefähr sind, ist manchmal ganz hilfreich. Viele Künsthändler geben Ihre "Schätze" mit diesen Grössenbezeichnungen an statt der tatsächlichen Masse. Und wenn Sie nicht ganz sicher sind, ob eine Grafik beschnitten wurde, kann es ebenfalls weiter helfen.
Eine Tabelle über Standardgrössen japanischer Grafiken zu publizieren ist eine ziemlich frustrierende Aufgabe. Vier verschiedene Quellen ergeben vier unterschiedliche Masse ! Wir haben uns entschlossen im grossen und ganzen den Massangaben aus dem Buch von Sandra Andacht - Japanese Woodblock Prints - zu folgen (Quelle siehe weiter unten).
