Zhou Donghua is a member of the Heilongjiang artist group known as "Beidahuang Art School". In May 2008 we received a consignment from China with woodblock prints by Mr. Zhou Donghua. They were only two - winter landscapes. It makes you wish you could see more works by this artist from the Northeast of China. Zhou Donghua had a number of international exhibitions outside of China.
Mr. Zhou Donghua, a Christian, was born in 1970 in Heilongjiang province. He studied Chinese woodblock printmaking with Mr. Zhou Shenghua.
Mr. Zhou Donghua is a member of Chinese Artists Association and of Chinese Printmakers Association. His woodblock prints have been selected by the 11th, 13th, 14th, 15th, 16th, 17th Chinese National Prints Exhibition. The woodblock print "The Sun in Autumn" was selected for the 10th Chinese National Art Exhibition.
Unfortunately we could not receive a more precise list of Mr. Zhou Donghua's art exhibitions (year, place). Chinese artists have a different mentality and although they are learning fast how to accommodate international requirements, not all of them practice Western standards regarding their artist resumées.
This is what we have:
Artworks of Zhou Donghua were shown in the United Kingdom, the United States, Korea, and Hong Kong in several exhibitions and at several occasions. In 2007 his artwork "Green Summer" was presented to Mr. Wang Guangya, the United Nations Ambassador of China as a gift.
