The art works by Mongolian printmaker Zhao Weiguo are centered around the rural life of Mongolian nomads. His images express his love for the country and the Mongolian people. And sometimes the artist can be quite witty as in "Supernatural Road", showing a cow next to an aspalt road. Above all, Zhao Weiguo demonstrates a great mastership in woodblock printmaking. His art works show a wide variety of styles and motifs.

Supernatural Road

In former times, Inner Mongolia had no asphalt or concrete roads. The artist named the asphalt road "Supernatural Road" because of the economic benefit that roads bring to Inner Mongolia. The transportation by cars becomes easier and faster. This somewhat surreal combination of a realistically rendered cow and an ashalt road attracts immediately the attention of the viewer.

Edition size: 8.
