In July 2007 we received from our Chinese agent a number of inexpensive but stunning art prints created by young talented artists who recently graduated from a Chinese art academy. One of these emerging young "baby boomer" artists is Yu Dan.
Yu Dan was born in 1985 in Wenzhou city of Zhejiang province. She graduated from Printmaking Department of Fine Art Academy, Hunan Science and Technology University in 2007.
In her art print "Empty Houses" Yu Dan shows empty old houses of her hometown, Zhejiang. The situation captured in a woodblock print is characteristic for today's China. People abandon their old houses to live in modern buildings.
"Empty Houses" is a very large woodblock design printed with oil-based colors. The image size is: 58.5 by 74.5 cm = 23.0 by 29.3 inches.
