As a Westerner I am reminded of traditional Chinese ink paintings when I look at Si Riufeng's art works. This young artist has certainly been influenced by the old Chinese masters. But there is more behind. In some of his paintings one recognizes either old houses or the skyline of new modern urban buildings.

Si Ruifeng is a young emerging artist, born in 1986, Shangxi Province. He graduated from Fine Arts Department of Shangxi Normal University Major in oil painting and obtained the bachelor degree.
In 2009 he settled down in Beijing Songzhuang Artists' Village as a professional artist. Because of his young age his exhibition list is still short. But he has already found his way and personal style.

"The inspiration for my paintings comes totally from my personal life. It is permanently changing, like this quickly changing age and society of China."
"The distant old houses that you can see in my paintings represents my subconscious memories from my childhood. The birds in my paintings are the focus of my vision. These birds are the soul that I give to the picture. The birds are free, but lonely. Their clear eyes show a certain helplessness."
