Ms. Shigeko Inoue, born 1945, is a well-known printmaker in Japan. She is a regular contributor to the prestigious, annual CWAJ Print Shows and she has exhibited at Yoseido Gallery in Tokyo, another top place for printmakers in Japan. We have never seen such perfection in displaying water landscapes with the technique of woodblock prints. Such mesmerizing images can only be achieved by devoting a whole artist's life in the quest for perfection of one subject, one idea, one passion - something hard to find anywhere else than in Japan.
We published this article at the occasion of our first presentation of woodblock prints by Ms. Shigeko Inoue in a solo auction running from June 4 to June 8, 2006.

Shigeko Inoue works in woodblock technique. Her prints are from middle-sized to large. The paper is from soft and pliable to very thick and stiff. The artist's editions are usually small - 15, 20, 30 and seldomly 100 copies. All woodblock prints that we have seen so far were signed, titled (in Japanese) and numbered. The artist signs with "S.Inoue" or "Shigeko Inoue". The prints are usually not dated.
"I am fascinated with nature and its expressions of water. Trees and flowers laced in vapor, free flowing water and the inner world we can catch through glimpses of transparency, the mirrored face of serene water and the outward world it reflects, and water's movement in time with the heart of the world."
"It is these aspects of abstract dynamism, rhythm, and harmony that I try to recreate as sincerely as possible. Needless to say, each is only one aspect that was captured in my heart."
