Australian printmaker Tom Kristensen, born 1962, has started a series of original, all hand-made woodblock prints showing President Barack Obama, 44th President of the United States of America. On this page we introduce the available 5 designs so far.

The Artist Tom Kristensen
Tom Kristensen was a collector of Japanese prints before he started to make his own woodblock prints in 2003. Tom is a self-trained artist. Basically he learned how to make a woodblock print on the Internet on public platforms like the Baren Forum.
Tom uses traditional Japanese tools, materials and methods. All his prints are self-carved and self-printed. There are many printmakers like Tom worldwide who work in the tradition of the old Japanese Ukiyo-e tradition. This has become an art movement known as moku hanga.

This print depicts a reproduction of Barack Obama' s face, made by scientists of the university of Michigan. The reproduction is made of carbon nanotubes and only 0,5 mm (ca. 0.02 inch) sized.
