Mr. Nyoman Wirdana is a young emerging artist from Bali in Indonesia. His speciality are oil paintings of flowers in brilliant, warm colors that reflect the light and rich colors of Bali.
The following resumé was taken in complete from Pranoto Art Gallery with friendly permission by Mr. Pranoto and his wife Kerry Pendergrast.
Nyoman Wirdana was born in North Bali, Indonesia in 1976. In 1996 he studied painting with the artist/teacher Retno Tri Joko in West Java for two years.
He returned to Bali in 1998 to study with the artist Sugito. Both of these teachers were students of the famous Indonesian artist, Dullah. They gave Nyoman a solid foundation in art; landscape, portrait and still life. He also studied with the artist Pranoto in Ubud, and has been drawing the model at Pranoto's Art Gallery for many years.
Nyoman has exhibited in group and solo shows in Bali, Java and France. Currently, he is exploring the subject of flowers in the medium of oil on canvas. He has found an original style in a textured technique, combined with a strong composition and color harmony.
Here are a few selected works by the artist. The oil paintings exhibited here, were displayed in artelino auction # 349 in January 2006.
