In July 2007 we received from our Chinese agent a number of inexpensive but stunning art prints created by young talented artists who recently graduated from a Chinese art academy. One of these emerging young "baby boomer" artists is Liu Panwu. And more than that: Liu Panwu can already show up with a small but impressive history of exhibitions and even awards.
The images on this page are link-sensitive and take you to other articles or web sites in which you might be interested.
Liu Panwu was born in 1984 in Qidong city of Hunan provonce. Before his printmaking studies in Tianjin Fine Art Academy, he had won many art exhibition prizes in his hometown. In 2003, he passed into Tianjin Fine Arts Academy, Printmaking Department, which is one of the top leading printmaking school in China.
Asking for Flowers is a series of etchings. It shows a young Chinese woman in a red dress. Flowers are around her. But the flowers seem to be so elusive and ephemeral. They seem to be subject to the caprices of the wind. Edition size is only 17.
The common subject of the series Young Living is a candle. The candle is shown either with a male head or a hand. Also this series is created in etching technique. The edition size is very small with only ten copies.
