Mr. Cai Shuxin is well established in the Chinese art scene. In 2004 he exhibited in Paris, France. And in 2011 he won an outstanding art prize at the 2nd Nation Exhibition in China. Cai Shuxin represents a classical painting style that is quite sought after by the new Chinese middle and upper class.

Resume of Cai Shuxin

Mr. Cai Shuxin was born in Hebei province in 1976. He studied oil painting at the Oil Painting department of Tianjin Fine Arts Institute for 4 years.

After his graduation, he continued his studies in oil painting at the Chinese Central Fine Arts Institute to obtain the master degree. Then he became a lectuer of Fine Arts Institute of Qingdao University. Currently he teaches at Fine Arts Institute of Zhejiang Industry University.

Artist's Statement

"Painting is just like a container. It could contain the artist and the art. All the things that we saw are in movement. Colors, shapes and light give me inspirations."

"And also Tibet gave me so many impressions because of its altitude and the mysterious religion. The successive impressions are containers which carried all my feelings that are shown in each artwork."

• 2001 - Mr. Cai Shuxin attended the group exhibition 'Classroom Without Wall' in Tianjin.
• 2001 - The pencil sketch 'Man Nude' was selected for the book 'On the Macro Knowledge of Sketching', published by Gansu People's Publishing House in 2001.
• 2003 - The oil painting 'Hometown' attended the first National Oil Painting Exhibition for the excellent graduates' artworks.
• 2001 - The oil painting 'Hometown' was published in the magazine 'Art Observation'.
• 2004 - Mr. Cai Shuxin began to write his book 'Colors of Still Life'.
• 2004 - The pencil sketch 'Women Nude' was published in 'Course of Pencil Sketching – Nude'.
• 2004 - The oil painting 'Bell Rings and Wind Blows' was selected for the 10th National Art Exhibition and won the Silver prize of Shandong province.
• 2004 - Cai Shuxin attended the 'Sino-French Art Exhibition' in Paris, France.
• 2006 - Cai Shuxin attended the 'Yuanda Cup' Biennial Nomination Exhibition in Beijing.
• 2007 - 'Start by Now - Youth Artists Grand Exhibition' in Shanghai.
• 2008 - Cai Shuxin attended the Autumn Salon, Beijing.
• 2010 - His thesis 'Pencil Sketching – College Entrance Examination' was published in 'Modern Art'.
• 2010 - 6th Art Festival of Songzhuang Art district, Beijing.
• 2011 - The gouache 'Fishing News on the Islands' won the outstanding prize, the top prize of the 2nd National Gouache Exhibition.
