Saburo Miyamoto was born in Ishikawa prefecture. From 1920 on he studied at Kawabata Painting School. From 1938 until 1939 he studied in France. After world war II Saburo Miyamoto taught at Kanazawa University and Tama College of Fine Arts. In 1958 he became president of Japan Artists' League. In 1966 he became an appointed member of Japan Art Academy.

Saburo Miyata was born in Nagano prefecture in 1924. He was active in printmaking education and became the head of Tokyo Hanga Institute. Among his art works are series titled "Scenes of Shinshu" and a 12 album series "Japanese Scenery".

Ota Saburo was born in Aichi prefecture. He had studied Western-style painting with Kuroda Seiki and traditional Japanese-style painting with Tarazaki Kogyo. Ora Saburo created woodblock prints and lithographs mainly during the first two decades of the twentieth century. After world war II he bacame head of Aichi Prefectural Museum.

Saburosuke Okada was born in Saga prefecture. He studied Western-style painting and became a professor at the Tokyo School of Fine Arts in 1896. From 1897 to 1902 he was on an official mission of the Ministry of Education in France. There he studied painting with Raphael Collin and learned the Western technique of engraving. Back in Japan he worked with metal-plate techniques - etchings and engravings. In 1931 Saburosuke Okada founded the Nihon Hanga Kyokai - Japan Print Cooperative Society - and became its first chairman. In 1937 he received the Order of Cultural Merit.

Sadafusa Utagawa is a pupil of Kunisada. His prints are similar in style to those of his master. His favorite subjects were bijin (beautiful women).

His original name was Hashimoto. He was a pupil of Kunisada. Best appreciated and noted are his Yokohama-e - prints from the Western enclave of Yokohama depicting scenes with Westerners. At his time he was obviously among the top appreciated designers, as his works were displayed in the World Exhibition in Paris in 1866 at the Japanese pavillion together with such renowned artists like Zeshin Shibata.

Sadahiro Utagawa is said to have studied under Kunisada Utagawa. Later he went to Osaka. His style is typical for the 'Osaka School' of printmakers with mostly kabuki actor scenes and portraits. According to Laurance P. Roberts Sadahiro Utagawa may be identical with Hirosada Utagawa.

Sadanobu started as a pupil of the Shijo painter Ueda Kocho. Later he became a pupil of Sadamasu Utagawa and a member of the Osaka school. Sadanobu created designs of landscapes, flowers and birds, actors and a series of Hiroshige miniature copies.
