Hajime Namiki had originally studied the art of sculpter under Shigeru Ogura. Today he is better known by his woodblock prints which he began to create at the end of the 1970s. Hakuho Hirano was born in the old emperor residence of Kyoto. He had studied classical Japanese painting and printmaking as well as modern Western style painting. His prints were published by Watanabe Shozaburo. The artist was represented in the famous Japanese prints exhibition in Toledo/USA of 1936. Hakuho Hirano is best known for two bijin designs - 'Before the Mirror' and 'After the Bath'.

Hakutei Ishii was born in Tokyo and received his first art training by his father. He studied at the Tokyo school of Fine Arts. Hakutei worked as a painter and printmaker both in Japanese and in Western style. In 1910 and again in 1923 he travelled in Europe. Ishii Hakutei had a great influence on Unichi Hiratsuka and other artists.

Hanko Kajita belongs to the generation of Meiji artists who earned their living mainly with kuchi-e, frontispiece illustrations of popular novels published by newspapers. At the turn of the century Kajita had established his own private school in Tokyo. He had great influence on the younger generation of artists and trained artists like Maeda Seison, Togyo Okumara and Kokei Kobayashi. Hanko Kajita died at the age of only 41 of tuberculosis.
