| Artist |
Zhou Lu born 1973 |
| Description |
A bold headed, grown up boy is standing next to the statue of Mao. He exactly copies Mao's position. Both are standing on a pedestal and applaud. This situation deals with China's past under the rule of Chairman Mao Zedong. The artist's style is part of a contemporary Chinese art movement known as cynical realism. A statue of Chinese Chairman Mao with his familiar gestureof clapping hands. The clapping hands are a classic feature used by Zhou. It is the influence of China's idols (here: chairman Mao Zedong). And no matter if one likes it or not: he influened several generations of Chinese people. |
