Description From the series, "Festive Wine", "Poem 16". One of 50 original copies of "Festive Wine: Ancient Japanese Poems from the Kinkafu," translated by Noah Brannen and William Elliott.
An additional 150 copies were printed for the book. The blocks were destroyed after the printing of the 200 copies of the print.
Haku Maki was a grand old master of modern Japanese printmaking. He introduced many innovative design elements such as deeply textured embossing or distorted Chinese characters. The artist's reputation is international.
Signature Signed "Haku Maki" in pencil on the lower margin.
Seal Artist's seal.
Dated 1969.
Medium/Technique Mixed media.
Impression Excellent ... Strongly embossed as almost 3 - dimensional work.
