Title Shinbashi - Twelve Views of Tokyo
Artist Hakutei Ishii 1882-1958
Description From the series "Tokyo Ju-ni Kei" ("Twelve Views of Tokyo"). A beauty is sitting at "kotatsu" (Japanese foot warmer) covering herself with a blanket.
This series was never completed and ended after nine prints. All 9 prints were carved by Igami Bonkotsu (one of the master carver in early 20th century) and printed by Nishimura Kumakichi
.
Signature 'Hakutei'.
Dated Ca. 1914-17.
Medium/Technique Woodblock print.
Impression Very good.
Colors Very good.
Condition Very good ... Slightly toned, slight soils and wear. Three distinct long horizontal creases, one from the top left edge, two on the lower area.
Note Carver, Igami Bonkotsu's seal on the lower right.
Format Oban tate-e
