Description "Dainippon Meisho no Uchi; Hakone Sanjo no Kosui". (The Famous Places of Japan; Lake at the Top of the Hakone Mountain). Rare, large size woodblock print made for advertisement for the tea box maker, Masuya, in Yokohama.
A carrier is travelling two tea boxes on shoulder. It is a mundane scenery for him but travellers and hikers are marvelling the grand scenery of Mt. Fuji over Lake Hakone from the mountain road.

Dated Ca. Late 1860s.
Medium/Technique Woodblock print.
Impression Good.
Colors Very good.
Condition Good ... Paper toning, slightly mottled toning on the sky. A dozen foxing on the right margin, Margin edges frayed. Missing parts on the margins. A vertical center fold and a line next to it. Light creases and wear. Three tears up to ca. 1 cm = 0,4 inch long, on the top, right and bottom margin. Several ink stains on left and right margins and in the image.
