Artist Akio Onda born 1924
Description From the short poem collection "Chidorigake". Poem by KOBAYASHI Issa (Famous haiku poet and writer, 1736-1827) about the sparrows eating gladly "awa" (millet) at Sedo.
Akio Onda was one of the excellent pupils of Shiko MUNAKATA. He learned the dynamic and strong black and white composition typical to the "Munakata School". But he has more of the warm feelings in his colors and subjects.
Signature "Onda Akio", title and date in pencil.
Seal Artist's red seal on the lower margin.
Dated Ca. 1960s.
Medium/Technique Woodblock print.
Impression Excellent - very good ... self-carved and self-printed on a very thin, Japanese washi paper.
Colors Excellent - Very good ... Colors applied from the backside.
Condition Very good ... wrinkles usual for this type of washi paper, slight toning. Slight foxing.
