Description Priest is beating a large drum which is called "oh-kaminari" (Big Thunder) at Eihei-ji Temple. Eihei-ji (temple of eternal peace) was founded by priest Dogen in 13th Century near Fukui City. It is one of the two head temples of Soto sect of Zen Buddhism which still strictly practice Shikan-taza ("just sitting") form of Zen. .
Signature "Onda Akio" in pencil.
Seal Seal "Onda" in top left corner and seal "Akio" in right bottom corner on the margins.
Dated Late 20th century.
Publisher Published by artist himself.
Medium/Technique Woodblock print.
Impression Excellent - very good ... (self printed) printed on a very thin, Japanese washi paper.
Colors Excellent.
Condition Excellent - very good ... wrinkles usual for this type of washi paper.
Note Red seal "han" on the bottom margin.
