Description The original painting of a village full of red plum trees on silk and a woodblock print with the same motif. The upper area of the mat for the painting has some notations from the artist.
They have been kept in the famous publisher in Kyoto, The Uchida, archives. An exceptional and rare item for the serious Japanese woodblock print collector.
Dated Ca. 1930 - 40s.
Publisher Uchida.
Medium/Technique Watercolors and sumi on silk.
Impression 1. Hand painted on silk. 2. Excellent.
Colors Excellent - very good.
Condition Very good ... Painting : Light foxing. Top corners are pasted on the mat. Print : Top edge is pasted on the presentation paper. Slight foxing.
Note Uchida Han is an important Japanese publishing company with branches in both Tokyo and Kyoto. Founded in 1919, the company is still in existence today as an active publisher of shin-hanga in addition to publishing re-strikes of Edo period ukiyo-e prints.
