Description From the series, "kyoka iri Fuzoku Juni ka Getsu" ( Genre Scenes in the Twelve Months with Kyoka Poems). In March, three beauties are having fun taking out the hina dolls from the storage boxes and arranging peach flowers for the dolls festival. The poem by Tsuyo Tokunari.
The series was described in the large exhibition catalogue by British Museum-Chiba Municipal Museum (1995).
Signature "Utamaro".
Dated 1792 - 93.
Publisher Wakasaya Yoichi.
Medium/Technique Woodblock print.
Impression Good.
Colors Very good ... with the very fugitive bluegreen still intact.
Condition Good ... Minimal toning and slightly soiled. Light creases. Light foxing.
Note This print was printed in the color scheme, "Benigirai", in which the reddish colors were avoided. "Benigirai-e" pictures had mostly muted purples, yellows and greens. They were very popular in the 1780 - 90s.
