Description The very rare original hand painting on silk by Benji Asada and a trial proof (different color scheme) with annotations by the artist. .
They have been kept in the famous publisher in Kyoto, The Uchida, archives.
Signature "Tangyu" on the trial proof.
Dated Ca. 1930-50.
Publisher Uchida.
Medium/Technique Watercolors and sumi on silk.
Impression 1: Watercolor painting. 2 : Woodblock print. Excellent.
Colors Excellent.
Condition Excellent - very good ... Trial proof print has some pencil indications of correction by the artist. Watercolor painting has light foxing on the sky.
Note Uchida Han is an important Japanese publishing company with branches in both Tokyo and Kyoto. Founded in 1919, the company is still in existence today as an active publisher of shin-hanga in addition to publishing re-strikes of Edo period ukiyo-e prints.
