Description	An original preparatory watercolor painting of Lake Shishido and ominous Buddhist statues under the full moon. It was made for the trial proof before the first commercial edition. It has been kept in the famous publisher in Kyoto, The Uchida, archives. An exceptional and rare item for the serious Japanese woodblock print collector.
Dated	Ca. 1930 - 50s.
Publisher	Uchida.
Medium/Technique	Watercolor on paper.
Impression	Watercolor on a thick paper.
Colors	Very good.
Condition	Very good ... Light toning. Slight foxing and light soils.
Note	Uchida Han is an important Japanese publishing company with branches in both Tokyo and Kyoto. Founded in 1919, the company is still in existence today as an active publisher of shin-hanga in addition to publishing re-strikes of Edo period ukiyo-e prints.
