Title Outing in the Snow Storm
Artist Fujimaro Kitagawa 1790-1850
Description Two shamisen players are walking outside during a snow storm. Fujimaro was a pupil of Utamaro. His picture style had combination of Utamaro and Nanga elements.
Signature Fujimaro hitsu.
Dated Originally in Edo era. This one is a re-carved edition made in ca. 1900-1930.
Publisher (distributor) Shima Art Company (active 1930s).
Medium/Technique Woodblock print.
Impression Excellent - very good ... (re-carved edition in early 20th C.).
Colors Excellent ... light colored wash and faded colors to simulate the old look.
Condition Very good ... upper margin lightly creased, tears on the lower right corner (almost torn off).
Note "Made in Japan" stamped on the reverse. (provenance) Robert O. Muller estate.
