A girl in beautiful kimono with butterfly patterns is playing with her cat. ----------There was a wide spread interest in the new definition of "true beauty" during Meiji era. This series, in which Chikanobu depicted women in various societies and age groups, seemed to offer the definition of beauty in each of women engaging different activities in everyday lives. Chikanobu perhaps wanted to suggest a viewer could find the "true beauty" in any of them. |
