| Description |
From "Tokugawa Jidai Kifujin" ("Court Ladies in Tokugawa Era"). Court ladies are viewing the red and while lion dance. The lion dance is related to the legend of O-e Hiromoto (1148-1225), a mythical warrior in Japan, who became a Buddhism priest. He went to China to practice the austerities. When he was crossing a bridge one day, he was visited by spirit of a lion, which suddenly appeared among the blooming peonies and performed a beautiful dance in front of him. |
